Our Founder and MD, was the founder and MD of Exxelis Limited, an optical films manufacturer with operations in UK and Taiwan since 2005. Before starting Exxelis, Navin was the Co-founder and Director of Materials at Terahertz Photonics, a Venture-Capital backed telecom start-up in Scotland. Navin has over 20 year’s experience in founding and running Optical/ Micro-optic products businesses.
Optrical’s Director of Finance (part time now) is a chartered accountant (ICAEW) with over 25 years’ experience in both practice and industry. Mark is a specialist in the technology sector having worked with several VC funded technology start-ups and early-stage companies.
Mr. Kumaraswamy worked as Investment Director with Mercia from 2008 to March 2025 and has over 15 years’ Venture Capital experience. He was responsible for a number of technology investments including Faradion and SureCore. He was a member of the NPIF- Mercia Equity Team and part of the Electronics, Materials, Manufacturing & Engineering sector Investment Team..
Prior to this, Ashwin worked in IP Ground plc, commercialising intellectual property from UK universities and at ITI Scotland, analysing technology markets. Ashwin holds a Bachelors of Engineering in Electronics and Communications from Bangalore University, an MSc in Systems Level Integration from Edinburgh University, and was a Chevening Technology Enterprise Fellow in 2004/05.
